I'm at a really happy stage with both of these babies.
Not to say all these baby stages aren't wonderful, they are.
Just that some are a little trickier than others.
And right now, we are very content.
Haven't seen any of those scary parenting curve balls in awhile---I'll enjoy it while it lasts. Ha.
I love watching Lyla learn her language.
Each day she is finding some new way of expressing
herself or coming up with a funny little phrase.
Some of the most repetitive include:
"follow me" - "what's that noise" - "gotta go potty quick"
and the lovely, "two more minutes, mom"
I'm not sure she clearly understands what that last one means,
but she says it anytime she isn't ready to stop what we are doing.
Oh, and her every request ends in "me"
lay down me = lay down by me
rub back me = rub my back
hold hand me = hold my hand
Toddlerese has become my second language.
It can be quite puzzling at times as well as hilarious.
Max has troubles sleeping without his momma.
He sleeps in his crib for the first portion of the evening
until he wakes to full blown tantrum mode because my skin isn't in arms reach.
At that point, I run to his rescue and he sleeps soundly once in my bed.
He is sure to pet/claw me periodically throughout the night for reassurance and
in the event I do get up for a glass of water, his eyes shoot open
almost immediately after I get out of bed.
It's like he can sense my absence. That boy is relentless.
I love cuddling my babe. But I miss cuddling Kirk too.
So it would be nice to find him a nice large chunk of skin to place with him in his crib,
for at least a couple nights a week. I'm kidding. I'm not that morbid.
And unfortunately, the only skin-like product that comes to mind
probably wouldn't be an appropriate snuggle toy for a baby.
Oh. And the last piece of news is we adopted a dog.
I'm not really a dog loving type of gal.
The slobber. the hair. the smell. the barking.
All of it generally grosses me out.
But after our last cat, Kirk said a family dog was next in line.
So I took the kiddos to the animal shelter and found our special fur baby.
We named him Krew and he really is the sweetest dog.
He doesn't bark at other dogs or humans.
He isn't aggressive with cats.
He allows Max to harass him.
He doesn't pull on the leash.
He doesn't jump on furniture.
Other than the unavoidable gag-worthy dog habits,
he hasn't done anything to regret my decision.
Welcome to the family, Krew.
